Perth Amboy Sidewalk Murals

I was asked to be a lead artist for a public mural project conceived by the high school students in the Perth Amboy LEAP program. The students had to come up with a public art project and they dreamt up a series of sidewalk murals that would be aimed at suicide prevention. They wanted a series of messages that might help anyone struggling, so they came up with the wording and needed a lead artist to design the murals and help them to install them.

To help the students paint the final designs, I made stencils with my Silhouette machine and cut the larger words out by hand. The stencils were used to spray paint the words onto the murals. For the rest of the designs, I created step by step guides for the students to follow the painting process and guided them along the way, helping them to paint the final murals.
