crayola style guides

One of the most exciting projects that I have ever had so far in my career has been creating digital lettering and illustration pieces for Crayola. I worked with the creative agency Style Works Creative, who guided and art directed the work and then used it to put together style guides for Crayola.

I worked on 2 separate sets of pieces for Style Works, one of which was for specific seasonal themes and where each piece was created in sets of 2, one geared toward kids (more colorful, fun, character-focused illustrations) and one geared toward adults. This second set appears after the first set on this page.

All pieces had the same process. I was provided with one quote and one Crayola color for each quote and had to create a piece inspired by both the color name and the saying. Another goal was to try to incorporate in as much Crayola branding into the illustrations as possible. These branding elements included crayons, the Crayola logo, and the signature serpentine shape from their crayons.
